He's tattling on me again!!

Dec. 27th, 2013
"Mom, where's your phone? I'm telling Daddy on you!"
Day 361

* Nixon spent most of the day asking to play his video game. When he wasn't doing that, he was telling me how much he loved me and how I was his favorite mommy ever!

* Apparently, before Mac left for work, he had told Nixon that, if he was good, I would possibly let him play his game before he went to bed. Nixon told me "Dad said to tell you I'm allowed to play my game now", after he ate dinner. I told him I'd think about it and he says to me, "That's it, Mom! Call Dad right now! I'm telling on you!".
So I had him give me the phone and called Mac. After we played phone tag because I never remember to charge our house phones and my cellphone loses signal in the house randomly, I explained why I called and let him talk to Nixon. I then talked to him again and ended up letting Nixon play the game for a bit before bed.
Surprisingly enough, Nixon decided when he was ready for bed even before I said anything to him. He turned the game off himself, brushed his teeth and went to upstairs to wait for me so we could feed Scootaloo before he went to bed for the night.

Holiday recovery....

* Nixon did everything he was asked to do (pick up his toys, put his dishes in the kitchen and play quietly while mac was sleeping) all because he really, really wanted to play his Rescue Bots game system. I got it set up, plugged it into the TV and figured out how to get it loaded. Nixon played for about 10 minutes the first time then declared it stupid and quit.
I'm not a big video game person, myself, which was exactly why I kept telling him to wait for Mac's time off so they could play together. Nixon decided, after taking a break in his room to calm down, he wanted to try again. This time he got a few pointers from Mac and he was getting the hang of it. By the time I was done getting dressed Nixon had gone from being a 3rd level thingy to 10th level!

This game is the best gift ever!

Oh no, son, that is not going to fly today...or any day.

* Today, Nixon woke up and crawled into bed with me, telling me "Mommy, I needs the blanket on me, my feet are cold!" he then puts his iceburg-like feet on my legs! So rude! I roll him away from me, get his feet wrapped up in a blanket and burrow back into my own blanket cocoon.

* Later in the day, Nixon was getting pissed playing his Angry Birds game. He started yelling and was told to calm down. He looked at me and said "NO! I won't calm down!", so I told him he needed to go to his room for talking back to me. We're not tolerating it anymore affective yesterday because of his behavior at school. He says "No" again. I got up, picked him up, carried him to his bedroom and told him why he was in there. I set the timer and told him he needed to stay in the room until I came up to get him.
He stayed. He and I talked about why he was in his room, and he came downstairs and apologized for talking back.

* I heard Nixon singing and looked to see what he was singing. My little cutie was singing "Twinkle, twinkle little star" to Arwen. When I told him that was very sweet, he said "I walked by and scared her awake, so I was singing her back to sleep...but you moved and now I'll never get her back to sleep!" haha

* Finally, we've got new magnetic clips. Nixon was looking for BeBe and I asked where he might be. Nixon says "On the fridge, hanging in the dungeon.". Oooookay.
Sure enough, Nixon had hung BeBe by the ears using the clips and put the clips on the fridge! That's so freaking awesome I can't even find the space to be slightly worried that my son is hanging his beloved bear by the ears in a dungeon.

His heart's better, he's giving me kisses and bonding with daddy today! A total successful Sunday!

* From yesterday:
Nixon seeing Mac reading on his tablet: What the heck are you reading?!?!

* Nixon was in a much better place this morning. He said to me "Mommy, I have good smiles from when J visited. That's a good thing. Friends are good to have." Those words made me feel like the best mom in the world, because just last night he was swearing off of making friends ever.

* I struggled with another mild migraine today. As I was trying to sleep it off, Nixon came up to check on me. He saw I was hurting and he kissed my forehead saying "Oh, Mommy, you don't feel good do you? My poor mommy."

* I woke up to find Nixon and Mac playing Super Hero Squad together. Mac was playing, Nixon had a turned off control, but he didn't know it. They "played" 3 levels together and Nixon had a total blast! I was in love with both of them watching them together.

This is our son....and his defense is he learned it from Star Wars Angry Birds....really?!?!

* Nixon and I were eating breakfast this morning. I showed him the picture my sister sent me of my new nephew. Nixon says to me "Mommy, I'm a baby. I need a diaper". I kind of rolled with it and replied "Well, I don't have a diaper right now but why would you want one?". He thinks and then says "I'm growing up but I want to be your baby. Like a little baby."
I reassure him that he'll always be my baby and I remind him that babies don't get to play Angry Birds and they have to sleep a lot and can't play with Lego's. I think he was over it at no Angry Birds.

* Nixon is sitting next to me on the sofa, with his fingers in his mouth
me: Fingers out.
Nixon: fingers in!
me: go to bed if you want fingers in
Nixon: (gets off the sofa and starts walking to the stairs) bowchickabowwow
me: *stunned silence followed by belly laughter*

* When Mac woke up, I explained the whole "bowchicabowwow" thing. Nixon then comes upstairs and starts saying it all over again, multiple times. We asked him where he learned that, while Mac was trying to change it to "brownchicken, browncow", and Nixon said "Space Angry Birds". Somehow I doubt that, but looks like I'm going to be putting some hours into that game soon.
Always my baby....

The next generation!

* Nixon and J are enjoying their time together. It comes with ups and downs, of course, but they are cousins and they are cute together.

* We tried making it to DC today. Less than 5 minutes away from the house there was a downpour so bad I could barely see 2 car lengths in front of me. The solution? Chuck E Cheese! The kids are out of the house burning off energy and we're all safe off the roads and out of the rain.

* Mac went upstairs to get ready for work. He comes downstairs and says "It's like our (J's father and Mac) sleepovers up there. Nixon is lying in bed talking to J, they are having a secret conversation like we did", and he sounded so amused by it. It's adorable that Mac got to see Nixon and J replaying his own childhood memory in real-life.

A mostly uneventful day

* Nixon could not wait for me to get out of bed this morning. He greeted me, smile on his face, with an incredibly sweet "Good morning mommy. It's a beautiful day! The sun is up and the bugs are outside! The bugs AND spiders are outside, mommy. Isn't that a good day? Now come downstairs its time to wake up."

* His reason for being so excited was mostly due to our creating a membership on abcmouse.com for him. Since we can't get him into a daycare or preschool program, I want him to still know the basics. Hoping this website will help, we signed up and today was Nixon's first day.
He completed 2 lessons and multiple games. He was overjoyed to be learning! He calls it "going to school at the computer", it is the most accurate description there is.

Captain Obvious has entered the building!

* Nixon was watching Mac play a video game. Mac was getting shot at (or something like that, I don't exactly care) when Mac says "Dammit!" and Nixon says "No, Daddy. Don't say that word. Say "crap on a stick" not that word." This happened three times.
Schooled by a 4-year old! Loving it!

* We're all snuggled up on the sofa, chilling together when *pfffrrrttt*
Nixon: Excuse me, I fart.
A few seconds go by and then....
me: Ew, Nixon that is really stinky!
Nixon: Yeah, well it came from my butt!

mouth wide open and he's still adorable!

Daddy and me day...no mommy allowed!

*Special guest writer today! Mac wrote this blog and sent it to me, in an email with the pictures. I'm just copying and pasting it as is....Enjoy!*

-Nixon:  I kissed Amber's holes
-Dad(Half asleep):  That's good pal,...wait, what?  You mean nostrils?
-Nixon:  No, her holes!

The robot thing:  He put the box that his Iron Cub came in on his
head, positioned where he could see out the "windows" of the box.  He
came over to me, and we stared at each other wordlessly for about 10
seconds.  He then yelled, "I'm a robot!", and then ran away.  We had a
lazy day, watched TV, he played the PSP, I played the Xbox, and did
some housework, we napped, that's about it.  Good times.

I'm so glad he and his dad got to spend an awesome day together....I'll be home tonight!

..let sleeping boys sleep

* Mac came to bed at 830am this morning. I had no idea what time it was *it's so great that I'm sleeping a full night's sleep now!* until he mentioned that Nixon was still sleeping. Nixon came into bed at 1015am! I guess his late movie night with me Saturday night and no nap yesterday finally caught up with him.  I am not complaining.

* Nixon likes to high-five me...all the time! Today I was in the middle of something and didn't have a free hand to give him a high-five, so I said "Nixon, just high-five my face, lightly". My son, the brightest light in my sky says "Mommy, I'm not allowed to high-five you face. You said not too".
Well played, Nixon, well played. He got a kiss and a hug for that!

* another video clip: this time of Nixon playing his first video game (with mac of course)

smooshy sleepy face, snuggling with his bears...the best!
