...and today, a video highlight

Nixon has started singing lately. Which is funny because just last month he would tell anyone he heard singing to stop. And he wasn't nice about it. Well, now he's allowed to sing and most times I'm allowed to sing but that's usually about it.
The video below shows Nixon singing his latest favorite song. Mac is to blame for this....I had nothing to do with this. I've said before, I don't listen to the latest fade hits most times. Nixon likes Pink and Matchbox Twenty because of me though. He also listens to Ani DiFrano because of me.

* For some reason, even after reading the entire first comic book of Monsters Inc., Nixon did not want to sleep tonight. He finally fell asleep in our bed, on Mac's side. Which is good (because Mac is working) and bad (because I like to watch tv in bed before I fall asleep and he's facing the screen less than 18 inches from the screen), but most importantly it's great because I get to listen to him grind his teeth and snore, which is kind of comforting compared to the empty bed I had waiting for me before he took over the bed.

"psst...hey Daddy"

I give "perfect mommy hugs"
Nixon: *hiding behind the curtains* Psst...hey, Daddy....
Nixon: pssst...hey, Daddy....it's me Nixon
me: *giggling* Babe
Nixon: Psst...hey, Daddy...it's me, Nixon.....I'm hiding
Mac: Good job Buddy, but if you're hiding you shouldn't tell me you're hiding.
Nixon: *crawling out from under the curtains* Oh.
Mac: *to me* It's like that whole Big Bang episode
"I'm going to my room"
"Very well Leonard, but next time try not to tell us where you're going to hide"
Mac: That needs to go in the blog for today
me: I'm on it.

* After I give Nixon a hug, he walks away and says "a perfect mommy hug". Anyone still wondering why he got a daily blog about him??

me: What do you want for dinner, bud?
Nixon: uh....bacon?
me: You want bacon for dinner? With what?
Nixon: cooking
me: What? You want bacon with cooking?
Nixon: Yeah. In the kitchen.
^^great, my 4-year old just told me to get in the kitchen and cook him some bacon!

He's perry...perry is on my (son's) butt!

"butt and peenie, butt and peenie"

* taught Nixon an important life lesson: there's no such thing as too much coffee. Especially not when it's said to an empty coffee cup. Empty coffee cups are sad and should be filled immediately.

* Ever heard the song "Black and Yellow"?  It's about the Steelers, I think. Mac gave Nixon a shower tonight and Nixon started signing "butt and peenie, butt and peenie" to the same tune as Black and Yellow.

* Nixon stayed home with Mac while I went to a doctor's appointment. What's awesome is, he did exactly what he does when I'm trying to sleep....kept trying to talk to him every 5 minutes about the show Nixon was watching! Mac worked midnights last night and had slept all of 2.5 hours before I had to leave. It was kind of hilarious because in my head I could hear Nixon telling Mac exactly what was happening...sorry babe.

"That's a lotta poop?"

*While I was making our breakfast, Nixon comes in with the broom. I asked him what he was doing and he says "Mommy, its germy in here! I need to clean the germ because youse too busy."

* Nixon was walking around in his undies (good gods, someday he's going to be really pissed about this blog!) when I saw that he had put them on backwards.
me: Nixon, your undies are on backwards.
Nixon: They are?!?!
me: You didn't notice? Aren't they uncomfortable?
Nixon: Yeah.
me: So turn them around!
Nixon: But they keep my butt warm....
Once again I'm awed by his logic.

* Nixon, sitting next to me on the sofa with his 2 teddy bears. I hear him talking, playing with his teddy bears "you need to touch your toes", I turn and look at him and he's got BeBe touching her toes and Giant BeBe looking at her butt. He then says "That's a lotta poop in there."

fell asleep on his book....so cute!

"Do I love you a lot, mom?"

* Nixon put himself in Time-Out this morning. He says "I can't talk. Gotta go to Time-Out". He hadn't done anything to warrant Mac or I putting him in Time-Out, but he felt he needed to go there.
Turns out this was just his excuse for going and playing on the stairs with BeBe.

* "I'm a hero, Mommy. I can scoop the cat poop because I am a hero!" and he did scoop out the litter box, flush the poop and he did it all by himself. Scooping the litter box? Yes, Nixon, yes you are my hero!

* "You not a princess, mommy, you a mommy" words of wisdom from Nixon.
me: "I can't be a princess because I'm a mommy?"
Mac: "Why can't mommy be a princess, Nix?"
Nixon: "Mommy can't be a princess because mommy builds my *legos* airplane."
Mac: "So princesses can't build airplanes?"
Nixon: "No. And mommy is not a princess, she's a mommy"

* Nixon has spent the whole day asking me "Mommy, do I love you a lot?" Of course he loves me, it's odd that he needs to ask me so often though. It's as though he's testing me....have I done anything that would cause him to NOT love me? Sometimes I find myself asking this very question: Have I done something to cause Nixon to not love me? He's too young to be posing such deep philosophical questions, isn't he?

What will tomorrow hold?

Creative Day

* Nixon helped Mac make me a cup of coffee before I came downstairs this morning. Nixon ran to the stairs and says "Mommy, youse coffee is ready" as soon as he heard me walking down the stairs. I love how he knows how important coffee is to me!

* Nixon spent almost all day playing with his Legos! The big thing is, he was doing it himself. He'd come to Mac or I when he needed help placing them on each other or taking them apart, but he was building things by himself.
I really saw his creative side today.
He also made a bracelet for himself out of pipe cleaners and beads.

* This is a big one: He ate a real dinner! 2 hot dogs, 5 large strawberries and a pickle. And he ate it all without a fight. Normally, if he doesn't pick it he won't eat it. His choices are peanut butter and jelly or toast. Occasionally, we'll get chicken nuggets added to the list.

How could you not love getting coffee from this cutie???

days like today make me smile

* Another Saturday, another comic book signing at Third Eye Comics. Nix and I arrive to the store about 45 minutes before opening. This allows Nix some time to burn off some energy and (like today) show off his awesome dance moves for the other people in line.
While waiting in line, Nix got impatient and it could have gotten ugly until Nixon gleefully finds the dice and spends more than 30 minutes chilling in one spot lining up dice. We are so lucky the staff is super understanding and doesn't mind when he does this. Seriously, those dice have saved Nix mid-meltdown, more than once and the staff is always good about it. Just one more reason *like we need more* that we love this comic book store!

* Nix met one of my battle buddies from AIT tonight and her husband. He was charming, entertaining and spot-on with his manners. Even if he didn't want to eat the amazing meal I made, he was charming enough that I'll forgive him today.

knocked out on his Cars sheets with his Cubby Stark bear...go Disney haha
